Associate Membership

Requirements to receive Associate Membership status –

To be considered for membership as an Associate Member a prospective member must meet all of the following requirements.

• Have reached the age of 18 years

• Must currently be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician - Associate Service Membership

• Must currently be trained in Emergency First Aid - Associate Support Membership

• Have completed probationary membership requirements

• Have served as a probationary member for a minimum of six months

• Have passed a drug screen

• Present at a regular monthly business meeting a request for “Associate Membership” status in person or in writing

• Must be approve by a majority vote of the executive committee

 Associate Member Authority – 

• Associate members have the right to:

• Retain recognition as a member of the squad

• Be issued squad equipment as approved by the SOPs of the squad for this membership category.

• Receive all benefits that may be offered to this membership category.

• Shall be eligible to hold Administrative, but not Operational Positions

Associate Member Responsibilities –

Associate members shall:

• Perform the required hours as outlined in the SOPs for this membership category (currently requires 16 hours per month based on 4 hours each week; this number will be reduced as staffing increases).

• Complete and maintain training requirements as outlined in Squad SOPs for this membership category

• Attend duty, training and meetings as required in Squad SOPs for this Membership category

• Meet all obligations required by this membership category 

• Notify the squad of any conflicts of interest on matters of squad business

• Perform any squad duties and assignments as directed by line officers or Squad SOPs.

• Present their self in a professional manner at all times while in view of the public.

• Not apply for membership to other EMS agencies within Henry County or Martinsville area.
