Associate Membership
Requirements to receive Associate Membership status –
To be considered for membership as an Associate Member a prospective member must meet all of the following requirements.
Have reached the age of 18 years
Must currently be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician - Associate Service Membership
Must currently be trained in Emergency First Aid - Associate Support Membership
Have completed probationary membership requirements
Have served as a probationary member for a minimum of six months
Have passed a drug screen
Present at a regular monthly business meeting a request for “Associate Membership” status in person or in writing
Must be approve by a majority vote of the executive committee
Associate Member Authority –
Associate members have the right to:
Retain recognition as a member of the squad
Be issued squad equipment as approved by the SOPs of the squad for this membership category.
Receive all benefits that may be offered to this membership category.
Shall be eligible to hold Administrative, but not Operational Positions
Associate Member Responsibilities –
Associate members shall:
Perform the required hours as outlined in the SOPs for this membership category (currently requires 16 hours per month based on 4 hours each week; this number will be reduced as staffing increases).
Complete and maintain training requirements as outlined in Squad SOPs for this membership category
Attend duty, training and meetings as required in Squad SOPs for this Membership category
Meet all obligations required by this membership category
Notify the squad of any conflicts of interest on matters of squad business
Perform any squad duties and assignments as directed by line officers or Squad SOPs.
Present their self in a professional manner at all times while in view of the public.
Not apply for membership to other EMS agencies within Henry County or Martinsville area.
