Requirements to receive Service Membership status –
To be considered for membership as a Service Member a prospective member must meet all of the following requirements:
Have reached the age of 18 years
Must currently be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician
Have completed probationary membership requirements
Have served as a probationary member for a minimum of six months
Have passed a drug screen
Present at a regular monthly business meeting a request for “Service Membership” status in person or in writing
Must be approved by a majority vote of the executive committee
Service Member Authority –
Service members shall have the right to:
Retain the recognition as a member of the squad
Be issued squad equipment as approved by the SOPs of the squad for this membership category.
Receive all benefits that may be offered to this membership category.
Shall be eligible to hold Administrative and Operational Positions
Service Member Responsibilities –
Service members shall:
Perform the required hours as outlined in the SOPs for this membership category (currently requires 32 hours per month based on 8 hours each week; This number will be reduced as staffing increases).
Must maintain at least the level of EMT certification
Complete and maintain training requirements as outlined in Squad SOPs for this membership category
Attend duty, training and meetings as required in Squad SOPs for this Membership category
Meet all obligations required by this membership category
Notify the squad of any conflicts of interest on matters of squad business
Shall perform any squad duties and assignments as directed by line officers or Squad SOPs.
Present them self in a professional manner at all times while in view of the public.
Shall not apply for membership to other EMS agencies within Henry County or Martinsville area.
